Wayne’s story
Wayne also started as a volunteer at Furniture Now! His days primarily involved working in our office furniture warehouse, furniture deliveries and stock preparation, but he regularly got stuck in to whatever tasks needed doing around the place, for which we are very grateful.
Before Wayne came to us, he often experienced low moods, tended to worry about things and hadn’t felt he had a purpose for several years. However, he has developed a new found confidence which he puts down to the new skills he has learnt here and the value that he sees he brings to our work.
Wayne has gained numerous qualifications since joining us and he can proudly say that he played a pivotal role in the construction of our new training centre in Hailsham – a service that will benefit many more people living in the area.
Wayne came such a long way in a short space of time and his confidence rocketed so much that he applied for an apprenticeship role in our Eastbourne store.
Wayne says:
“Things weren’t so great before but since coming to the charity I have honestly never looked back! Voluntary work was something I didn’t really think about before, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it and found it to be very rewarding. I hope to find employment in the future whereby I can continue to help people.”
We are very pleased to say that Wayne was successful in his application and is now serving an apprenticeship with us!
